Start: 

 

The race begins inside Woodward Park just north of the Japanese Gardens next to Friant Rd..

Go south onto the Lewis Eaton trail.

.8 mile: Turn West (right) on the trail toward the main entrance to Woodward Park.

Continue West past the entrance to the park and move onto the dirt path along Audubon. Follow volunteer directions.

Mile 1.3: Turn North (right) on the dirt trail along freeway 41.

Mile 1.8: Stay on the dirt trail till it turns right (East) along the BMX course.

Mile 2: At the bottom of the hill (first water station) make a U-turn onto the Jensen River Ranch Loop along the bottom of the bluff toward the Woodward Bluffs Mobile Home Park. (water station)

Follow the 3 mile loop and back to the bottom of the hill (mile 4.8 Water Station).

Mile 4.5: Turn left at the bottom of the hill toward the "compass circle".

Mile 4.9: Turn left (north) onto the Eaton Trail at the compass circle and head north for approximately 3 miles to the turn-around point. (3 water stations)

Mile 6: The Relay exchange will be just past the First Bridge. (water station)

Mile 8.2: Turn-around. Runners will run out to the end of the Eaton Trail and return into the park and stay along Friant road.

Mile 11 Turn right (West) near Audubon, toward the entrance of the park again.

Mile 11.3 Cross the entrance to the park and stay on the paved road clockwise past the toll booth. (volunteer will direct)

13.1 Finish Line: Enter the fenced in area at the Japanese Gardens.

 



Two Person Half-Marathon Relay Info

The route is the same, however a few things to note;

Runner 1: Route in Red on the map.

Runner 1 will begin at the same time and location as all other half marathon runners.
Runner 1 will run the first 6 miles of the course and will hand off the baton (a carrot) to runner 2 at the exchange point. Runner 1 will then walk back to the finish area. There will be a shuttle van to drive lazy or tired runners back to the start area. There will be a water station at the exchange area.

Runner Leg 1. has a shorter distance but has a few more hills and should be given to the runner of the team who is "less experienced".

Runner 2: Route in Blue on the map. Runner 2 will walk to the exchange area just before the race starts. The exchange area is about a 15 minute walk from the start on The Eaton Trail near the first bridge. This will be a good warm up for runner two. However there will be a vehicle to take runners to the exchange.

It should take runner 1 anywhere between 40 to 60 minutes to get to the exchange area. (Or longer if runner 1 is enjoying the river view). Runner 2 will be able to cheer for runner 1 from the top of the bluff while runner 1 goes around the Jensen River Loop. Race staff will call out the number of a relay participant as they approac
